I’ve stayed in quite a number of W hotels in the world. While most impressed me, there are a handful that I couldn’t wait to check out. Thankfully, W Hong Kong belongs to the former. And it’s probably one of those few Ws that I truly enjoy staying.
Sleep / Hong Kong
My preferred hotel in Hong Kong – W Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Location, location, location
One of the reasons why I like W Hong Kong so much is its convenient location. The hotel counts the swanky Elements mall and Ritz Carlton as its rich neighbours. Situated just above the Kowloon MTR station, it takes you less than 30 minutes to reach the hotel after clearing the customs at the Hong Kong International Airport. The Airport Express brings you from the Hong Kong International Airport to Kowloon Station in less than 23 minutes! And the walk from the station to the hotel is less than 10 minutes (only if you walk like a turtle). The journey is quick, efficient and no fuss.
Stay at W Hong Kong is extra sweet with its excellent service offerings
The swift check-in
The hotel lobby is located on the ground floor and the check-in counter is on level 6. There is a dedicated counter for SPG members and hence, the check-in was rather smooth for my partner and I.

It’s just Fabulous!
We were upgraded to a Fabulous room and allocated a room with a spectacular view – one that faces the port. During my recent stay there, I couldn’t wait to pull the curtains apart first thing when I woke up. It’s just so lovely to be able to busk in the warm morning sun.
Fabulous Room in W Hong Kong
The room is pretty huge and it’s no doubt gorgeous. The W bed with its silky smooth bed lines is so comfortable that I simply knocked off every night. It’s been a long time since I last had an uninterrupted sleep.
The bathroom is comparable to those luxurious hotels that I’ve stayed in. There is a 15” LCD TV just in front of the bathtub. It feels great to be able to watch a movie while having a relaxing bubble bath.

Get FIT and get WET!
For the health enthusiasts, the FIT gym is located on the 73rd floor while for the spa junkie, the BLISS spa is located on the 72nd floor. Even if you’re not having a treatment, guests can also use the spa facilities located on the 73rd floor. The jacuzzi pool faces a gorgeous view of the Hong Kong habour. And there are a steam room and a sauna which are great after a good workout at the well equipped gym.
Bliss. Wet. Fit.
FIT Gym
But the highlight of the hotel facilities must be the WET pool located on level 76, the top floor of the hotel. The infinity pool has a stunning view of the Hong Kong island and even if you don’t swim, you can at least laze besides the amazing pool and have a drink.

Glorious food!
The F&B outlets are pretty decent. The buffet reakfast spread at Kitchen on the soxth floor is very extensive. It literally caters to every possible taste, from the Asian fares such as sushi and noodles to the international offers such as egge benedict. Although the spread is good, I wouldn’t say the quality is consistently good.

The WooBar is great for drinks and finger food. It can be pretty packed on the weekends. I didn’t try the Shin Yin Cantonese Restaurant this time even though I hasd a rather good meal there on a previous trip. However, a meal at Shin Yin doesn’t come cheap and hence, lunch is recommended if you have a limited budget.

It’s such a pleasure to return to a familiar hotel where the staff and management has managed to upkeep its standard. And frankly, it’s hard to find fault with W Hong Kong’s offerings. It’s a hotel that I’ve enjoyed repeatedly and will most likely return again.
