Not many spas in the world can boast of a million-dollar-view that overlooks one of the world’s busiest ports and a luxurious marina cruise centre. Located on level 35 of Asia Square Tower 2, Heavenly Spa by Westin™ at the Westin Singapore is one of the rare spas that has the attitude advantage.

A million-dollar-view spa – Heavenly Spa by Westin™, The Westin Singapore
I arrived at the spa 45 minutes before my scheduled appointment so that I could enjoy the spa facilities. After completing the health questionnaire, I was given a key and led to the men’s changing room. The locker is badly designed. Everyone of them is no bigger than 45 cm in height and width. It is impossible to hang my shirt and pants, and I had to leave my clothing on top of my shoes. Fortunately, there were empty lockers in the changing room which I could use. This is something that needs to be rectified if the spa wants to attract more non-hotel guests.

The Westin Singapore - Spa Couple Room
Having said that, the view from hot whirlpool is simply spectacular. I was enjoying the breathtaking view of the financial district and port from the comfort of the hot whirlpool. Since the spa is still relatively new, there weren’t that many guests and I was able to have the whole spa all by myself. What an indulgence!
I took advantage of the New Year New You promotion treatment (promotion ended on 30 Jan 2014). For S$195++, spa guests can choose three out of five 30-minute treatments. Each treatment focuses on a different body part. My chosen treatments were for my hands, feet and back.

The Westin Singapore - Spa Treatment Room
My therapist led to me this huge treatment room with an attached en suite. After changing into this boxy black disposable underwear, I was told to choose one stone out of three before the treatment. These stones have hope, gratitude and love engraved on them. My therapist explained to me that the purpose is to help me generate positive thoughts when I’m lying face down on the heated massage bed looking at the stone.
After massaging my hands and feet, she applied a thin layer of cuti-cocktail to protect my finger-and-toe nails. Next she started spraying hot paraffin wax onto my hands and feet. I was told that Heavenly Spa by Westin™ uses premium paraffin wax and this is an efficient and hygienic approach to ensure an even coverage. For the next 30 minutes while she worked on my back, my hands and feet were covered with paraffin wax and wrapped with cellophane wrap.
The massage was so enjoyable that I must have dosed off after a while. When I work up, my back was less stiff and, my hands and feet were super smooth.

The Westin Singapore - Spa Lounge
At the end of the treatment, I was offered a cup of warm ginger tea and dark chocolate at the men’s lounge. Similar to the Away Spa at W Singapore, the men’s lounge at Heavenly Spa by Westin™ offers a selection of nuts and dried fruits for the spa guests’ enjoyment. The men’s lounge is cosy and is an ideal place to rest after a relaxing massage.
Other than the questionable locker design and the uncomfortable boxy disposable underwear, it’s just a matter of time before I return to the Heavenly Spa by Westin™.
