Residing at the former Ink Bar, Anti:dote is Fairmont Hotel Singapore’s latest addition to its array of F&B outlets. At a glance, Anti:Dote looks more like a stylish lounge rather than a bar and restaurant. With its high tables and gymnastics-balance-beam-lookalike tall stools, I had to take a few looks and seek confirmation from the concierge before I walked into the restaurant and bar.

Bar & Restaurant – Anti:dote, Fairmont Hotel Singapore

Opened about a month ago, Anti:Dote has yet to build up its reputation for food and drinks. And when I was there for lunch, there were only a handful of diners. With only 17 items (including desserts) on the menu, it can be a challenge to decide what to eat.

Crisp seabass fillet with shaved fennel, avocado salad and salsa verde
The crisp seabass fillet with shaved fennel, avocado salad and salsa verde is an excellent choice for people who prefer a more substantial but yet healthy meal. The fresh herbal taste of the salsa verde compliments the seabass perfectly. Unfortunately, the seabass would have tasted better if the fish skin was crispier.

Catalan cannelloni of braised beef short rib with foie gras and porcini cream
The catalan cannelloni of braised beef short rib with foie gras and porcini cream is great for those who enjoy creamy pasta. The braised beef short rib in the rolled pasta is very flavourful and soft. The generous topping of porcini mushrooms is a nice touch. However, I find the creamy pasta is a tad salty for my liking.
The lunch menu is designed in such a way that the dishes come in smaller portions and the focus tends to be the greens. The reason being diners prefer a lighter lunch as most would feel lethargic after a heavy lunch.

Apple tart tatin with cinnamon ice cream
Since I was on my holiday mood, I decided to try the apple tart tatin with cinnamon ice cream. The apple tart is thin and not too heavy. But it was the baked wafer thin apple slice and cinnamon ice cream that stole the limelight. The apple slice has a slight crisp and the cinnamon ice cream is creamy and tasty. This dessert is simply gorgeous.

Angus Beef Burger
I returned to Anti:Dote a week later to try the Angus Beef Burger. And I would say this is by far the best dish. When I sank my teeth into the burger, the juice just oozed out of the succulent beef patty. The aged cheddar cheese adds another layer of flavour to this luscious burger. The chunky french fries are nicely salted and it completes a great burger experience.
Personally, Anti:Dote would be a great place to hang out for a casual lunch or after work. The interior design is geared towards generating casual vibes. I wouldn’t mind coming back for a drink or more food but I will consider twice for a business lunch.
