I visited Siam Center last December. Then, renovation works were in progress. The mall needed a much-desired overhaul as its former glory has faded in the midst of stiffer competition from its newer and fresher looking neighbour, the Siam Paragon. Eight months later, I’m back at the Siam Center. This time, the revamped mall is quirkier and edgier than its predecessor. And I must confess that I really like the new layout and offerings.

Dynamic. Edgy. Quirky. The revamped Siam Center, Bangkok
One of the reasons why I really like the revamped mall is that the entire second floor is dedicated to Thai designers. I’ve always fascinated withThai designers’cutting-edge works. One store that caught my eye is Container. Container sells well-designed accessories such as bags, folders and wallets. Although the designs are simple, you can see the designer paid a lot of attention into the details.

Another store that got my attention is Friday 27 Nov. They sell mainly women’s and men’s tops. I saw this silk floral jacket which I really like. Unfortunately, the last piece is slightly too small for me. Previous tenants such as Theatre and Play Hound are back in the mall. These veteran Thai fashion brands continue to impress me with their superb works.

International brands are located on the ground floor. This is where you can find names such as Espirit, Super Dry and Adidas.
The top floor has undergone the most drastic transformation. Known as Food Factory now, and it houses cafés and restaurants catering to every possible taste bud. There are whimsical European-themed cafes to a huge food court. Food Republic, a Singaporean-brand food court, is the anchor tenant on the top floor. Instead of serving Singaporean food, the food court has a selection of food stalls serving Thai food.

From the traffic flow, it is evident that the revamped mall is a hit with the younger and fashion-forward locals and tourists.
